Steve made Penny this cute little cat flat! She loves it :) He's going to start making more and then start up a site to sell his cat flats! I think it's a great idea. I love the name and kitties everywhere are going to be so happy to have a nice little place to curl up.

Today was a good day. Finished all my prints for my portfolio at last!!! Now I just have to decide which ones to submit. Later on in the day Steve and I went and got dinner with Heath. We went to Zipps and I have to say their pizzookie is delicious! A great end to a day!

This is my next ceramics project that I'm working on. We have to make an organic form and a geometric form that have a relationship between each other. I'm making a snail, but instead of the shell, I'm going to make gears that are inside of a clock. If I have time then I'm going to make a shell that can slip over the gears so you can take it off and see the inside workings of the snail. I might also make little windows in the shell so I can put a candle inside and have it light up! I'm excited to see how it turns out :)

Today is Megan's (my sister) 24th birthday! It's so weird to me because it feels like it was just yesterday when we were running around outside finding tadpoles in the gutters after it rained and playing circus in the backyard. I feel like my childhood went by so quickly even though at the time it seemed to last forever. It's weird how time is. Sometimes it drags on but other times it's so fleeting. It's also weird because this is the first birthday of hers that we haven't celebrated in person together. I guess we're all growing up.

Today was another busy day. I drove around a lot running errands and getting clay for my next ceramics project. I never knew just how hard it is to find clay in Arizona until today.

I feel like I've been living at school these past two years of college. Especially this semester when I've been working on portfolio non-stop. I love working in the darkroom, it's very zen like...besides for working on portfolio then it's just chaotic stressed time. However, today I found a happy medium. I was busy working away, but I was in a groove and feelin good!

For some reason I love how asphalt looks when it's raining. I love see the rain puddle up and see the drops make little ripples everywhere. There's something about the textures that I can't get enough of. I know I'm weird, but you gotta see and enjoy the small things to life sometimes.

Arizona's weather has been very bi-polar lately! For a few days it decides it wants to be happy and clear blue skies then the next day it will be all gloomy sad and down pour all over but then switch up the following day and be blazing hot. I do not understand it...but I always love a rainy day. This picture especially describes my mood recently. I've been super stressed and really gloomy sad but I'm finally starting to see the light and turn things around. Sounds cliche but it's totally true.

Anyway...My ceramics teacher has an exhibition of his work up in the art building's gallery. It's really rockin. (Ok, I'll stop with the corny jokes :P) All the pieces are made to look like rocks. It's really fantastic work. He made molds of different shapes then filled them with different glazes. Afterward he would cut the mold open to reveal the glaze that turned into a solid piece with a bunch of little crevices, just like a real rock. He then hand painted them and they just looked really awesome. I wish I could think of something so creative and different like that!

So I took a little break from the darkroom and went to go see that. Outside of the gallery there were jars full of these rock candies. They were delicious om nom nom.

Yesterday night was the pre-portfolio review for the photography program at ASU. In order to advance to upper division and continue with photography as a major, you have to submit a portfolio of 10-15 images and be accepted. Here's what I came up with. The scans of these are really crappy...the paper was still flattening so that's why the borders look all wonky. I don't know why, but the tones are off on some of them as well. They look better in person, I swear! haha At least I hope they do :P

Anyways...so I was super super super nervous to go. Steve was nice enough to come with me..thank goodness he did because they were so brutal to everyone! The professors were just unleashing it all onto students. After they'd speak about someone's work, the person would take all their stuff down and scram out of the room! After some rough critiques I got the courage and put my stuff up. They said they really enjoyed my printing! That was a huge relief because they were really hard on almost everyone about printing quality. So that was a huge weight off my shoulders. But then they said that they couldn't see a theme and that some didn't work because I centered the subjects. Kind of sucked. Buuutttt I'm going to shoot and print like a freaking mad insane person and whip out a fantastic portfolio before March 1st!!!!

I might die.

My friend Duston and I die a little in 3000 Years of Chinese Painting Art History class twice a week. So instead of paying attention, we doodle. Today we decided to animate shapes.

Happy Valentine's Day! It's actually the first year I've liked this day haha Usually it's just me and Misty watching movies. But I had my first and final Valentine this year :) Steve is amazing. I truly love him with all my heart and am so thankful to have found him. After I got out of school, Steve surprised me and took me to Chaparral Park to have a picnic by the water! It was super sweet and cute. I've always wanted to have a picnic with someone I care about and it was everything I imagined plus more. Perfect day :) Oh, Steve won me this puppy dog from one of those claw machines full of stuffed animals! I never thought people actually won stuff from them haha

Panda knows all. I know this is a broad fortune, but right now it just really hits home. I have my portfolio pre-review on Tuesday and I'm uber scared!! Hopefully the professors like my work...otherwise I don't know what I'll do. Eeep.

Sometimes it's nice to act like a little kid again. I love going to the park and going on the swings. I don't know why but it always helps make me feel better.

Today was Steve and mine's 5 month-iversary! I can't believe it's been 5 months already. In one hand it feels like I've known Steve way longer but in the other hand it feels like time is flying! I'm still as happy and madly in love with him as I was the first month...even more so actually which I didn't think was possible :)

Today was my Dad's birthday! I made him a Paradise Party cake :) Every cake I make for my family for their birthdays, there always has to be a little plastic animal on it. It adds a festive touch. This one had a deer and a duck sitting under umbrellas and a party train passing through.
